The aim of the support is to increase independence and self-reliance consistent with each individual’s needs, choices and goals.

HCO Community Support offers personalised support to people living independently in the community.

Some typical areas of support might include:

  • Menu planning and nutritious meal preparation
  • Household management
  • Budgeting and shopping
  • Reading mail and other written information
  • Facilitation of participation in community activities
  • Personal care

Teen & Youth Services

HCO Community Support program offers ‘in-home’ and ‘in-community’ family respite.

The aim is to support families who have a child or youth with a disability to relax or refresh for a few hours with some time out for themselves or with other members of their family. At the same time providing individual support to the child or youth to engage in activities over the school holidays or other times negotiated with the family

Some typical areas of support might include:

  • After school support with organising for study, school projects or homework
  • Recreational or hobby activities such cooking or pet care or other interests
  • Community access and support for participation in hobby, sporting or creative interests
  • School holiday activities such as crafts, arts, photography, movies, making a short video or animation, Yoga or Pilates, public transport training, visits to the Art Gallery, Botanic Gardens or Museum or other exhibitions

HCO Community Support program can be accessed using NDIS funding, DCSI funding or via the Lifetime Support Agency.
